Mount Meru
Mount Meru is situated in the middle of Arusha National Park at the end of Mormela Road. Mount Meru is the second highest mountain with 4.566 meter … og the tenth highest in the continent.
Ngongongare
The village that borders Arusha National Park is called Ngongongare, and this is where our academy is located. Approx. 300 meters east of Mormela Road, which runs from the main road between Arusha and Moschi up to the national park.
The climate
We are 1,300 meters above sea level at the academy, and since we are also ‘in the mountains’ and close to the equator, this means that the climate is perfect for football. And also quite good for being able to build good football pitches.
A former lodge
The academy was previously a tourist lodge built in 1998 by an American citizen. It was later taken over by a local Tanzanian – but when the corona closed down tourism in Tanzania – the place closed as a tourist lodge.
The boys will stay in the cottages
In the main building there is a large dining room, as well as a TV and homework room. In addition, there is both a kitchen and an outdoor kitchen, and three apartments with their own toilet/bath. The senior staff and our volunteers will live here.
The boys will from April 2024 stay in newly build cottages. Eight boys in each cottage. The cottages have two bedrooms with it´s own bath/toilet and a common room in the middle for eating, homework etc.
